Whether It’s Worth to Outsource Search Engine Marketing?

Marketing your business through Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the catch word of almost all businesses in the present times. In North America alone, a survey done by Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) found that the SEO market is over $10 billion. The million dollar question now is not whether you should keep your SEM initiatives in-house or outsource it. When reviewing your options you have to keep the following issues in mind.

SEO can be divided into four major tasks - Technical SEO, content creation and social media, link building, realignment and metrics, analytics and reporting. So you need to recruit a manager, under whom people will be working in various capacities. The first group of people will be dealing with technical aspects of SEO. The second set of people will be in content section. You have to recruit some of them who will be building links. The last bunch will be those who will be dealing with metrics, analytics and reporting. So while keeping an in-house team you should recruit professional in these capacities.

A SEO manager will be a talented search engine professional who will take the entire onus of the company’s search marketing services. He will take the initiative to increase the volume of quality referrals from search engines. He has to plan and implement the search engine optimization activities for the websites. He will be a substantial part of all ongoing research to ensure best practice search techniques. He should also look into the budgetary matter pertaining to search engine optimization.

A person who will dealing with the technicalities of search engine optimization should be able to work in tandem with the manager. He should be able to analyze new keywords and also those being used by the competitors. He should know on-page and off-page search engine optimization. He should be able to bring new ideas to the department.

You will also require a content writer who specializes in writing content that best suits the search engines. You will need people who will able to analyze the results of the search engine optimization initiative.

SEO terms and rules change with the blink of an eye. A professional firm that monitors multiple accounts and stays current with trends can remain abreast of them. An in-house resources should be allocated ample time to simply stay up-to-date. A survey carried out by MarketingSherpa showed that marketers who outsourced search engine optimization saw a 110% rise in overall site traffic within six months, whereas in-house saw a 73% rise.

Keeping an in-house arrangement can cost you around $95,000/year. Beside that there are other things like time for hiring, managing and finances for equipment and ongoing training. A SEM firms charge at most $25,000 to $70,000 for a year-long campaign depending on your needs.

Looking at the issue through above parameters, it seems that in-house arrangement requires significant investment at the initial stage while in outsource services the cost is distributed over time. Therefore before you kick off search engine marketing campaign perform a cost/benefit analysis of outsourcing versus in-house.

Outsourcing Marketing Strategy As An Option

Amidst increasing costs on running a business, the trend nowadays especially for those that want to rationalize operations is to downsize, re-prioritize or outsource. Without a doubt, outsourcing seems to be the most cost effective, not to mention the most practical way of running your business. From doing brochures to managing facilities, outsourcing has become an essential aspect of businesses. In fact, even the development of business strategies including its marketing function can all be outsourced.

Many companies resort to outsourcing because it allows a company to put more focus on product development and overall operations. It is also a strategy to simplify human resources’ functions like hiring and training. Many marketing consultants help companies market their products and services without extending their in-house marketing staff. They can often provide the same service as an in-house marketing department, but at half the cost.

Without your company realizing it, outsourcing helps you achieve the following:

Expertise outside core business functions – If your company is engaged in manufacturing, your core competencies would be in this field. To develop your marketing arm, you have to hire full-time staff to manage this particular function. Hiring and training requires a significant amount of time and resources which could have been devoted to other things like the function itself. On the other hand, if you outsource this particular function, you just have to be concerned with the terms of reference for you to be able to capture key measurements of results indicators. Moreover, outsourcing requires little supervision as you just monitor outputs. Your company does not need to assess individual performance because it is not your concern. Essentially, outsourcing simplifies this process.

Outsourcing likewise provides an external perspective and view point. Having been in the business or the company for quite some time is also limiting because your perspective has somewhat been influenced by your environment. Whereas, an outsider could provide you insights to things which your company might have not noticed before or plainly dismissed. Fresh insights help marketing strategies because they infuse new ways of doing things.

One of the more daunting tasks with outsourcing is how to find a good outsourcing company. While there are a number of marketing consultants, you will never know how they perform unless you engage them.

Here are a few questions to reduce the risks of getting a fly-by-night organization:

First, your provider should have the proper training and experience. Ask about what type of training and/or education is important to you. I will tell you that education is important; however, experience and hands-on expertise can far outweigh education when it comes down to success in marketing.

Second, ask for case studies, referrals, and experience in the areas that you need assistance in. Never hire a marketing consultant without contacting client referrals. We can get very excited about the sales presentation and the brochure printing we have been handed with when looking for a consultant. But the truth is that the proof is in the achieved results. If they could not succeed with other clients, what makes you think they can succeed when it comes to marketing your products and services? Call those references, it only takes a few minutes and it is worth your time.

Testimonials might be a good indicator to ensure that you get the right provider. Testimonials will also give you an idea of their notable achievements.

Finally, ask for certifications or memberships to professional organizations. This will also tell you how active they are in the marketing community, as well as if they've been certified in certain areas of marketing.

7 Essential Things You Must Know Before You Start a Career in Internet Marketing

Are you considering a career in internet marketing? Do you want to leave the 9-5 and enjoy a life of financial and time freedom? You have made up your mind, but there are 7 secrets about internet marketing that no one tells you about.

The idea of this post is not to discourage you from pursuing internet marketing, but rather to give you an idea of what to expect on this exciting journey that you are about to embark on. By having a clear understanding of what to expect, you will be able to make more prudent business decisions and more accurately guide yourself on the path to success.

1) 95% of most internet businesses fail.

This statistic applies for offline and online businesses alike. If you do not have a clear goal or strategy of where you want your internet business to go, you will end up swimming in the pool of mediocrity along with the rest of the other internet marketers.

2) It might take a few months before results start to pour in.

Most internet marketers do not make a single sale till at least a few months. This few months are usually where the internet marketer learns the ropes of the online business world and equip himself with the skills, resources and knowledge to succeed in their field.

3) There are more internet marketers out there than you think there are.

The internet marketing niche is very competitive. Your business needs a unique selling point or USP if it is going to stand out from the crowd. Luckily, many internet marketers have discovered how to tap into small, profitable niches where the competition is low but returns are high.

4) There will be a lot of "shiny objects".

Shiny objects are things like the next revolutionary software or "system" that will give you a short cut to success. While some of these systems might work for internet marketers, in the end of the day it depends on how you as an entrepreneur are going to use it in your business, and how much effort are you willing to put in to succeed in what you do.

5) The online business world is very different from the offline world.

You will be exposed to many internet marketing terms such as traffic, SEO, email list, pay per click, viral marketing and so forth. But fret not, a good understanding of these new concepts will help you to cut through your internet marketing learning curve and experience a breakthrough in your businesses.

6) You might end up working longer hours than your usual 9-5 job.

In the initial growing stages of your business, you might have to spend a lot of time learning, doing research, writing and getting your systems set up. This can be quite a daunting task if you do no have a true passion for internet marketing or business. However, many successful internet marketers opt to work longer hours despite already having all the time and money they want because they love what they do so much.

7) Coping with the lack of human interaction might be difficult.

Try staring at a computer screen for 18 hours a day without any colleagues to gossip or joke with. Internet marketers live very unique lives, and later on they might feel a bit bored with all the time freedom they have while they watch their friends slave away at the office. But who knows, maybe you can get the "job" of your dream such as a dog trainer or teacher which you gave up because your parents said that this career would not make you any money.

That being said, internet marketing can be a very fulfilling and exciting career, especially if you are sincere about helping others and enriching the lives of people around you. Are you ready? One great way to get started is to model what other internet marketers are doing to cut short your learning curve.

The Secrets Of Internet And Online Marketing

You probably already use the Online World for many things. Whether you use it for entertainment, research, sending E-mail to friends and family, or just discussing numerous subject topics with others. Hey, if you're like me, you even use it to order pizza.

Of all the things you can do online, there is one that you should definitely know how to do. MARKET A BUSINESS ONLINE! I can't stress how important marketing your business is. This will determine how much money you make online. The better you market, the more money you make.

With the power of the Online World to reach millions of people, Online Marketing is definitely an awesome tool that no business should be without. The simple fact that advertising is practically FREE. The ability to get the results of thousands of dollars in free publicity is practically unheard of in business today. Only recently have more and more people figured out how to utilize the ever exploding Online World to market their business efforts.

Think about it, there is probably no business in existence that could not benefit from free publicity! And the fact that properly utilizing free advertising raises net profits to unbelievable levels! Using any or all of the major online services, or the INTERNET, can help you market your business efforts. Regardless if you have an offline business or online business, online marketing can make a huge difference!

Let's start with plain-old advertising. On America Online, for example, they will let you place classified advertisements for FREE! They have a variety of classifications to choose from. By placing these small free ads you can generate some very quality leads that can turn into sales. Or if you are a really good marketer you could sell something straight from your free ad. Wouldn't that be something, using the actual free ad to do all of the selling.

The other services offer free advertising from time to time. When they do charge for classified ads it is usually very inexpensive, and still a great deal considering how many people those ads can reach. When you place any advertisements you should always "code" your ads. This means put something in each individual ad that will tell you, if you get any business from it, which ad it came from. This way, you will probably find that some sections are better producers than others, and you will want to concentrate on these sections and not the ones that weren't making any money.

To code an ad you could make them request a certain "report" for more information. You should give each report a different code for each ad. Such as: "ask for report #1tv" , this way you would know that this request came from the ad on television, for sale category, and so forth. If they send you an order straight from the ad, make them give you an order #, which would be different for each ad. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO ARE ADVERTISING ONLINE ARE NOT USING THESE AD CODES!!! THIS IS A MAJOR MARKETING MISTAKE!!!

By not tracking exactly which ads are making money, they are wasting their time by continually placing ads in "loser" categories. The actual code can be anything you want to assign to it. ALWAYS keep track of every ad you place. Make a note of what it said, where and when it was placed. You will be pleasantly surprised when you analyze your "ad data" and see some positive trends developing. Just repeat these trends and it will help you to make more money!

How would you like to find a name list of several hundred (or even thousand) people who might be interested in the particular product or service you are selling based on their jobs or interests? Wouldn't that be great!? Well, you can! And the Online Services supply this service as a part of your regular membership.

This little unknown tool is called the "Member Directory!" You can do searches in the directory for other users with certain characteristics. For example, if you were selling fishing equipment, you could do a search by "fishing." All of the people that were registered in the directory and had listed fishing as one of their hobbies would show up on that search list. You could now send each one of those people an e-mail message telling them about your product or service, it's just like using a mailing list, but you have no postage! (*Make sure you check with your Online service to see if they allow unsolicited E-mail.)

You can also get the names of several prospects by doing some "browsing" in the different topic forums. Using the earlier example of looking for people who fish, you could look under sports until you found a discussion on fishing. You could then take note of the users' names that were participating in the discussions. You could do the same thing on the INTERNET with one of the many newsgroup topics that they have.

The bottom line is that you "test" and record the results of your Online Marketing efforts. Then just repeat the steps that are making you money and expand on them to reach more people.

Doing simple research on the Internet. The Internet has several mailing lists that are dedicated to marketing on the Internet. You will also find hundreds of articles on the World Wide Web. By searching one of the WWW search engines like Web-crawler you can find all the information you can read. Use search strings such as: "online marketing", "internet advertising", "selling online", and so on.

You can also find many books on the subject at your local bookstore or being advertised online. But my best information source is Google. Simply key in what you want to know, spend some times searching and you will find the help or answers you seek.
